What I'm Loving Wednesday

I haven't done a What I'm Loving Wednesday in a LONG time but I just had to post one this week. I am loving a lot of things even though this is a super busy time with the end of school approaching.

1) Only 7 more school days until summer break!

2) My precious Macy's sweet face! She makes my days and nights and I just can't wait to be able to spend the entire summer with her.

3) The beautiful weather we are having! Our temps have been in the 80s and 90s and it is feeling like summer.

Best iPad Apps for Kindergarteners

I just received my new iPad from a Donors Choose grant. I am so excited but nervous since I have never used an iPad before. I am looking for free and inexpensive but very useful educational apps. Please let me know which apps you like to use in your classroom. Thanks!

Busy, busy, busy!

I know I have been MIA for a while but things have been so busy. My little family went on a cruise a couple of weeks ago which was a wonderful vacation. Miss M absolutely loved being on the big boat and getting all the attention from everyone. She met all the ship's crew and made friends with all of them. She slept like a champ and I was one happy moma! We had a great time and although I know she won't remember it, we took lots of pictures. We were celebrating with my parents for their 35th anniversary.

I am also in the middle of planning M's first birthday bash. I am so excited and sad at the same time. I can't believe my baby will be one! Time has flown!!! I will post pictures of her party as soon as I can.

Hope this helps you understand why I have been so busy lately. Please forgive me for being such a bad blogger, but I promise to be back before the end of the school year. Only 18 more school days for us!

Hoppy Easter!

Since tomorrow is Easter, I thought I would share with you some of my sweet M's spring/Easter pictures. She wasn't too sure about this live bunny but she sure loved having her pictures taken.

As of yesterday, I am officially on Spring Break!! I hope you all have a "hoppy" Easter tomorrow!

Career Week & a Field Trip

This is Career Week at our school so we have been talking about jobs and careers all week. Today was dress-up day. I had 12 of my 21 participate which was a pretty good percentage since I don't have a lot of parent participation in this group of kinders. I had everything from ball players to teachers to doctors to a tattoo artist. He was probably the funniest since his dad is a deacon in the church and his mom is a Sunday school teacher. He was so sincere in what he wanted to be and showed up with washable tattoos all over his arms and face. He even brought tattoos to share with his classmates so they thought his career choice was great. We didn't share how real tattoos are created using a real needle!

Well tomorrow we are off to the zoo for a field trip. This will be my first time going to the zoo in probably 8 years so I am looking forward to it. The weather is supposed to be great (75 degrees and sunny) and most of the zoo is shaded so I think we will have a good time. Now hopefully the kinders behavior will be great as well!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

April Currently

I am once again linking up with Farley for her April Currently. This seems to be the only time I have to spend on other blogs anymore. Being a mommy keeps me busy! Well here it goes:

Listening: It is the end of the day and I have the backdoor of my classroom open so I can hear the sounds of spring outside. I love listening to the birds chirp!

Loving: The weather here in SC this week has been GORGEOUS with highs between the upper 70s to mid 80s and no humidity. It has been perfect weather and makes it very difficult to come in from recess every day.

Thinking: My report cards go home tomorrow and I still have quite a few to finish. We have to manually input our students' mastery, attendance and comments so it takes quite a while to do 21.

Wanting: I would love to have more time with my sweet baby girl. I was able to spend the first 3 months home with her between my maternity leave and summer break. Now I am missing all that time with her. It seems my afternoons and weekends go by so quickly!

Needing: I am definitely in need of spring break. It seems like it is so far away. We still have 2 more full weeks. Our spring break is always the week after Easter and with Easter being late this year so is our break. I am looking forward to spending quality time with my sweet Macy.

Hours & Last Day: Our hours are officially from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm, but on duty weeks I have to be at school by 7:15 am and on Tuesday we have to stay until 4:00 pm for meetings and such. Our last day is June 7th this year.

Now hop on over to Farley's blog and link up with your own Currently!

Happy Spring!

Well today is April 1st and here in SC it sure feels FABULOUS! We have had a high today of 83 degrees and my kinders were loving recess today...no jackets or coats! It was so nice to be in the sunshine. Now I am just looking forward to going home to my little sweetie and enjoying soaking up some more sun outside with her this afternoon. She loves being outside when I get home.

Currently, I am working on several projects including a new printable pack of activity sheets for spring. I will let you know as soon as I finish the pack and post it to TpT.

Since the weather is so delightful, I thought I would do a quick giveaway for my faithful followers. Use the Rafflecopter below to be entered for a chance to win my new CVC words activity sheets pack. This contest will run through Thursday so make sure to enter and leave me a comment letting me know your favorite spring activity. Happy Spring!

CVC Words

My class has been working hard on CVC words. We have segmented the phonemes and blended the phonemes. Now we are working on writing the CVC words and spelling them correctly.

In order to help my kinders with this, I created a pack of CVC printables. This is a pack of 12 CVC printable activity sheets. Some sheets in the pack are matching where the students draw lines from the CVC word to the matching picture. Other sheets have students simply write the letters to make the words. Other sheets have the students write the letters to make the words and then cut out the letters to build the words. This pack is priced at $4.00 in my TpT store, but I will have it on sale for $3.00 until tomorrow morning at 7 am EST.

Wacky Winter Weather - Part 2

Well last week we only came to school on Monday and Tuesday due to some bad winter weather that was headed our way. When I got up on Wednesday morning, the rain that had come in on Tuesday had turned to freezing rain and had icicles hanging from everything around our house. Our power went out about 10:30 am on Wednesday morning and due to the trees down and power lines down from the ice we were without power until about 10:30 pm on Sunday night. I am just thankful that my parents' power was restored on Thursday evening around 6:30 so we stayed with them. No power + a 9 month old = NO FUN!!

Needless to say we didn't come to school on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Our school was without electricity until sometime this weekend so today is our first day back. I am not looking forward to making up these days but I did enjoy all the extra time I had for hugs and kisses from my sweet baby girl! M's kisses make everything better!
