Hip Hip Hooray...We've Been in School 100 Days!

Today we celebrated our 100th day of school. It was a day full of fun activities. I know that many of you have already celebrated your 100th day of school, but you may be able to use some of these activities next year.

We drew what we thought we would look like when we were 100 years old. (Don't you love the walking cane and gray hair?!)

This was my outfit for the day -- a jean jacket made with 100 bows covering it (just like Miss Bindergarten!). My mom made it for me!
(I can't get it to rotate...sorry!)

We made hats from an old Mailbox magazine that has buses to count by tens.

We also made 100 Fruit Loop necklaces. These necklaces were not hard to make. I gave each child a ten frame and they made a set of 10 Fruit Loops of one color. Then they put this set on their yarn which was taped to to table. The other other end of the yarn was wrapped with Scotch tape to make it easier to string the Fruit Loops.

I hope this will give you some inspiration if your 100th day is coming up!

I have been super busy this week so I haven't been able to post anything, but I put together this activity to help my kids practice reading their number words. I hope you will be able to use this too!

Loving Valentine's Day!

First let me say a great big THANK YOU! I had a final donation to my Donors Choose project - "Books Within Our Reach" to complete it. I am so excited and can't wait to get our new bookshelf in our reading center!
Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays so I decided to share some more activities with you.

I created this counting sheet to use with my kiddos. I still have quite a few kids that can not count up to 20 objects and some that can count up to 20 but don't know how to write the correct numeral to correspond with the amount counted.

I created this game to have my kinderkids practice sorting words by syllables. They are still having some difficulty with this standard and playing a game always interests them. I printed the game on cardstock and cut apart before laminating the pieces.

If you choose to use any of these activities, please leave me a comment! Thanks!!

Donors Choose Project - Please Help!

First let me say that I LOVE Donors Choose. It is a great program that allows teachers to get some much needed materials. If you have not tried it, you should. It does not take long to write up a proposal and you can often find match codes online for any donations that someone makes.

With that said, I am creating this post because I have a project that is within 3 days of the expiration date. I am only $37 away from having the project complete. I have never had a project get this close to being funded without it being totally funded. If you would be willing to help, please click on this link or the picture at the bottom of this post. The code CHASE is a match code that you can use to match any donations you make so I would only need a $19 donation and the match code to complete my project. Thanks so much in advance!!

BTW: Donations are tax deductible!

Teaching Sight Words

I have been teaching sight words to my kinderkids all year. Our school district broke the Common Core sight words into groups that the kids must know for each quarter of the school year. I still have some kids that do not know all of the words from the first quarter. I am looking for some new ways to teach sight words. I have used concentration games and flash cards. Do you have any suggestions for games that I could create or find to use to help my kinderkids learn these sight words? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Love is in the air!

Valentines Day is on the way so I am sharing an activity that I made to use with my kinderkids. Hope you can use it too!

I made this game to use during our small group rotations. The kids have to make a match of two sight words and be able to read them. This really helps them learn their sight words.

If you choose to use this game, please leave me a note! Thanks!

JUST CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT Linky Party

I am linking up with Dragonflies in First for her Just Can't Live Without linky party. Here are my Top 3 things that I just can't live without.

1. Binders - I LOVE THEM and I have a slight obsession! I organize all my units into binders so that I can easily find the reproducibles for each unit as well as any games that I have created for these units. I also have an all-in-one binder that houses my lesson plans, planning documents, emergency contact forms, etc.

2. Books - I have my books organized by theme/unit. I pull out all the books for each unit as we start it. I love having my own books and not having to depend on the library to have the kinds of stories and non-fiction books that I want to use.

3. Daily tubs - I have a tub for each day of the week. I try to pack these with the work for each day of the upcoming week before I leave school on Friday afternoons. It doesn't always happen but I do try. These tubs keep me organized and help me know if I am missing something for the upcoming week.
